Natchez Under-The-Hill
Natchez, MS 39120
Now a popular tourist spot, Natchez Under-The-Hill was once a local hangout for criminals. This area of the city is on Silver Street and is said to be the home to many ghosts. A well-known outlaw named Joseph Thompson Hare believes to linger the area after he was hanged in 1818. Several witnesses have reported seeing Hare's ghost laughing, while accompanied by the ghost of his unfaithful mistress. Several other ghosts are reported to linger the area, including another outlaw John Murrel, several Spanish soldiers, and a man in military uniform.
