Duff Green Mansion
Vicksburg, MS 39183
The Duff Green Mansion was originally a private residence that was turned into a hospital during the civil war. Although the Duff Green Mansion currently serves as a historical site and a Bed & Breakfast, the former mansion turned hospital has maintained remnants from the civil war. Bloodstained floors and the family's civil war cave can still be seen by visitors. Ghost sightings have been reported of a confederate soldier with one leg sitting in front of the fireplace. Visitors have also encountered the ghost of Little Annie Green, a young girl who died at the age of six.

We spent a night here and had the most gracious host and homemade breakfast. We slept in the room were the amputed limbs were thrown and collected up to the roof. I was really wanting to have a ghostly experience with a rebel but it didn't happen. The couple who stayed in other room had a picture to fall off wall with nail still in wall. We were packing to leave when the caretaker came and told us he was about to leave for a bit. We saw him leave in his truck. We were only one in house. My husband gathered trash and took upstairs to the kitchen. In the main room , a candle from a candlestick was in the middle of the floor. The huge, heavy candle holder was still on the table. It was still in the middle. Never moved from its spot. Guess some little spirit was having a bit of fun with us. Absolutely a wonderful place to stay.

We have stayed twice in the Dixie room. Encountered a cold spot in the sitting room just outside the room and could easily smell the formaldehyde in the walls. We visited the battlefield and were overcome by emotions. Highly recommend this location. The food was amazing!
